As many of our volunteer activities are temporarily on hold due to the COVID19 outbreak, please try to reach out and help someone elderly, sick, with food insecurity or with compromised immunity during these difficult times.

Layette Assembly

April 8th from 9:00 to 10:30am in Memorial Hall, lower level. Sign up required due to Covid restrictions. Masks required and attendance limited to 10 people.

Layette Assemblies are held 5 times per year at Memorial Hall.  Help is needed packing the baby clothing, blankets, and other items that make up the layette bundles that we provide to the free pediatric clinics at Overlook and Morristown hospitals.  Once packed up in our signature blue bags, we need volunteers to drop off the bundles in Morristown and Summit. For more information contact Sheila Herr at sheilaherr@comcast.net.

Tiny Toppers Knitting

If you are interested in knitting hats or other items for the babies we serve, please contact us!  It is the perfect way to help others while staying safe in your home. We can help get you supplies and patterns.   Also, if you have any extra yarn or needles you would like to recycle, please contact Cynthia below.

Join us as we come together to knit adorable baby hats, or tiny toppers, for babies in need. We welcome beginning knitters (we’ll teach you!), as well as seasoned knitters who want to join us for an enjoyable get together! You will be notified of any upcoming events. Tiny Toppers are included in our layettes and given to babies at the free pediatric clinics at Overlook and Morristown hospitals.  We also donate baby hats to social service agencies such as Birthhaven, a home for single mothers, as needed.  For more information, contact Cynthia Tarantino at ctarantino991@comcast.net or 908-273-0046.

Junior Christ Child Society

Children in grades 8 through 12 can join this great group of students who have come together to support the activities and mission of the Christ Child Society of Summit, which is to serve children in need in our community. Their inaugural activity was selling roses outside the childrens’ masses at St. Teresa of Avila church on Mother’s Day to raise money for CCS.  Last fall they collected and sorted gently used books to donate to Our Lady Help of Christians School in East Orange, and de-tagged baby clothes at CSS’s Make a Difference Day. They have many more service activities planned! For more information on becoming a Junior Christ Child Society member, contact us at ccssummit@gmail.com.
