2016 Atlanta Convention: “Food for the Soul!”

What a great experience! I was fortunate enough to attend the National Christ Child Society Convention for the first time this year with Jane Murphy from our Summit Chapter which was held in Atlanta. Lambi Newsham from our Chapter did an amazing job orchestrating every detail for just shy of 90 of us. It was such an eye opening experience to see so many Chapters come together and share their initiatives and brainstorm how to be more effective and creative in our outreach.

There were too many highlights to mention them all but we had a beautiful experience at Elizabeth’s Garden at the Elaine Clark Center in Atlanta. The center serves children with special needs and the Atlanta Chapter has worked very hard to create a garden that touches these children in many ways. As said by the director of the Elaine Clark Center “the garden provides food for the soul” not just for the children but parents and teachers as well. This is just one example of an experience that brought me home excited and energized to continue to work with Christ Child to serve the needs of others.

The weekend came to an end with a beautiful mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta followed by a lovely cocktail party at the home of Kathy Thompson from the Atlanta Chapter. I feel very fortunate to have been able to attend and meet so many beautiful people who are definitely making our world a better place!
